Tableau is an easy-to-use visualization tool for datasets. I have been working with this tool and a few others and have come to appreciate it more and more. I love taking my data and performing EDA, Feature Engineering, and ML algorithms with Python. However, if you have a small dataset, it is fun to just pop on a tool like this to explore.
Once again, I decided to play around with Tableau and work on a personal project for myself. I began simply by collecting data in Excel and generating some visualizations with Tableau. I visited 11 different company websites and tallied roles that were listed as 100% remote in the United States. I plan on adding more data and updating every few months to compare any changes. As noted in the Viz, this is for personal use only and excludes roles that may have a similar description to a role listed in this visualization project but may have a different job title.
Also, note that what is tallied under ‘Cloud’ ranges from SaaS like AWS and Azure to other cloud-based platforms and infrastructures. The key is that all require knowledge of cloud operations in some form, with the emphasis on cloud architecture or design. I also noticed that some jobs required a combination of skills that can apply to multiple roles. I tried to be fair and choose the role that best fit the described requirements rather than solely relying on the title of the role. I have yet to find a dataset that is this specific even when looking at projects developed with web scraping. LinkedIn, although a valuable tool, is also known for being inaccurate and messy to sort through.
Based on the research, I believe more data is needed to confirm that cloud-based knowledge is more likely to lead to a remote job. I will continue to update this dataset for future reference.
